This is an interesting article, all the way it talks about how the Japanese knew that this was a possibility etc. Whilst all this is true I'm sure that the IAEA were just as aware of it all as NISA & TEPCO, I'm sure that they were involved in inspections of Fukushima as well as being represented at the conference in Miami that they refer to too.
What i find telling is that the IAEA are now positioning themselves as being the ones who had concerns while apparently the Japanese regulators just colluded with TEPCO - it's all their fault.
This comes as no surprise really - many of us are aware already of the lengths that the industry go to cover their tracks. I made it clear in one of my earlier posts that theindustrial institutions like the IAEA will spin it to be a situation that could have only happened in Japan, just like Chernobyl could have only happened in Russia - sound familiar?
We have to make sure that people know that the IAEA whose very existence is to PROMOTE the nuclear industry are just as much (if not more) a part of the problem than the Japanese regulators & utilities.
Here is a link to an IAEA propoganda film uploaded to their U-tube channel exactly a week before the recent Big earthquake & Tsunami that hit N.E Japan.
Here they are putting themselves forward as nuclear inspectors of safety as well as preventing the diversion of fissile material for military uses (amongst other things), whilst now they are trying to distance themselves from the bad practise across the industry by pointing the finger at NISA and TEPCO, this is not an isolated case this is ENDEMIC to the global nuclear industry.
