Germany abandons Nuclear Power - It's about time we trook a leaf out of their book...

Similarities between the UK & Germany
  • regardless of the economic structure it both are capitalist economies predicated on growth & consumption.
  • Similar aspirations (wealth creation) etc.
  • Both part of the Golbal military industrial complex
  • Both members of the UN.
  • Both members of NATO
  • Both members of the UN security council (although germany a non-permenant member)

The only real differences that I can see are that the anti-nuclear movement is still more populist in Germany - All politicans in the UK first past the post system are only interested in the centre ground as that's what they need to get in/maintain their power. This is why all consecutive governements seem the same as the last one - because they are essentially!

To acheive in the UK what they've achieved in Germany the majority of voters have to be persuade to oppose it.

The Green movement is far more populist in Germany than here, the only thing here that seems to mobilise people in great numbers in the UK is self interest taxes & cuts! (the exeption being the opposition to War in Iraq).

Never mind the environment or social justice....
